Playing with fire...

...can get you burned. And burned I was. I lost a large chunk of Septembers winnings but still had a good month overall. I ran it up playing in games in which I shouldn't have played and inevitably lost it back playing in those same games. Live and let die I suppose.

I'm going to get back to studying zen and practicing yoga. It's good for clearing the mind and helping you stay calm and focused.

I feel like Ivey.

I think I have a good understanding of what it feels like to be Phil Ivey...unstoppable. Don't get me wrong, I obviously am just mediocre at poker and don't claim to be the next Ivey but I've experienced Ivey like results for the past month and boy is it ahhhsum. I planned on taking a few days off, but I felt pretty good after getting some sleep and a nice meal and decided to play some more. Played a little over an hour and..........wait for it........I.....WON! How shocking. Shipped $1768 in 370 hands. Was I playing like some sort of unstoppable poker savant? Um no. I suck. EV had me at -$145! EAT IT SUCKAS!

Another session, another $7k profit.

This just might turn into a good year after all...nice $6900 session putting me at $31k for the month. I'm probably going to take at least 2 days off and maybe a few more and forget about trying to reach 150 hours but I won't decide until I've had a little break.

**Edit**
As I was shutting the computer down I saw a couple fish playing and sat for like 15 minutes and won another $1500. Crazy.

I suck!...and I love it!

Fun game when your winning.

100 hour mark.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here but man PLO swings are sick. I booked another $4300 win (ran $2700 over expectation muwahhah)putting me at 18.4k after 61k hands. With rakeback and bonuses I'm over $20k for the month but I still plan on playing another 40-50 hours so who knows how it'll end up.

I was looking through my database to see if I could spot anything that stood out and came across something that caught me by surprise. In PLO I'm up $15.5k after 16k hands. I went and looked at the hand groupings tab and saw almost all of my profit was from AA. After 382 hands I'm up $9800/$7400 $ EV adjusted. Going by the EV I'm essentially breaking dead even for 16k hands and winning $7300 on 382 hands of AA combos. It's obviously just variance but pretty interesting nonetheless.

I was hoping to talk strategy, but honestly I don't feel like tinkering with my game at all right now and instead just ride this PLO heater out.

9/20/10

I logged another 6 hours putting me at 86 for the month. I need to average around 5.5 hours to get to the 140 mark. I ran well again today and booked an $1100 win. Woohoo! I actually ran about $500 under expectation and still booked a nice win which I'm pretty excited about. I'm running like $6000 over expectation and that will obviously even out at some point so it's great to 'catch up' and still book a nice win.

Vacations over.

I took around 10 days off and did a whole lot of nothing. Watched a lot of movies, hung out with friends, played with my dog and tried to keep poker out of my mind. I decided to get back to 'work' today and played an hour so far and won about $400. Almost all the poker I've played this year has been short handed NL with a CAP and frankly I'm pretty burned out from it. My results the past couple of months has essentially been break even which is most likely from me playing ABC poker and not really focusing on making the right adjustments to the current state of the games. So I can either continue breaking even, study and figure out how to beat it, or play something else. I've decided to switch my focus back to PLO. I spent a lot of time playing PLO last year so it's not like I'm totally clueless. I've had some pretty awesome results so far this month playing PLO winning almost $1/hand after 11,000 hands. The swings are nearly impossible to explain in writing, its just something you have to experience to really understand it so hopefully I can handle them properly and play my A when things inevitably start turning sour.

Heater continues.

I ended up logging another 10 hours and won around $5500 putting me up $13k over an 80 hour span. Poker sure is fun when you beat em for $160/hr.

Running hot this month.

It's awesome running over expectation. I've played 70ish hours so far this month and won about $7500. $4000 of it over expectation :). I've played about 50,000 hands running at 2.51bb/100. Most of my profit has been from the CAP PLO tables. I've played 7500 hands and won $6100. I'll probably only end up playing 140 hours or so for the month so I'm near the half-way point.
